It all started in January of 2004 when little Penny was born. She was bought by a wonderful family who already had tons of other dogs. Then a year later baby Rambo was brought into the family at 6 months old. He's definitely a Catahoula-Great Dane mix, but Juneau is harder to tell we think she is some sort of Pointer-Labrador mix.
When we got Juneau and Bryce we didn't know much about them, just that they had very different personalities. But with some extensive research and 'catfishing' my mom was able to track down their original owners and got in contact with them. We were able to have almost all of our questions answered and learned so much more about them. Penny grew up believing Rambo was her little puppy, and the family had tons of dogs around. They even started building a pool and I can't tell if they're more excited about being nosy with the construction or the pool itself! But unfortunately the family that had Rambo and Penny got divorced with the husband taking Rambo and the ex-wife taking Juneau. From what we understand Rambo was being babied as he always had, but Penny's life is a little unclear. From what we understand she no longer likes any other dogs but Bryce, and it took a few months to gain her trust. We also believe it was possible she was being abused and based on comments made on Facebook it appears she spent a lot of time outside in the yard alone. They were separated from one another for six years until the ex-wife who had Penny dropped her off at a kill shelter. The day Penny was to be euthanized the ex-husband was notified. This is the picture of her the day he bought her back. He reintroduced her to Rambo and she was extremely happy to see him. For whatever reason the ex-husband decided to give up both dogs to Paradise for Pets, where he was assured they would be kept together and they would find a forever home. They stayed with their foster for 5 months before they were adopted by us. Now Juneau and Bryce are happy and loved again, and we will ensure it stays that way.

My brother was the person who gave the dogs up for adoption. He was going through a bad divorce for the second time. Penny was given up because his first ex had a baby and things were very difficult. She did contact him first and he said no. Penny was never abused. Penny never really liked people or other dogs not since she was a puppy . Both dogs were treated very well and never left outside for long periods of time. I'm glad that you've given them a home for their later years. I wish that I could have done so, but was not in a position to do so.
