If you have visited any Disney park, you have probably seen the hundreds of Disney pin trading posts, and the countless pins that are being sold. My family's vacations to Disney have made pin trading a staple event and we have acquired quite a collection. For me at least, pin trading was unknown to me until only a few years ago. As a child I always thought the pins were some sort of stylish accessory to the multitude of lanyards that each store was selling. It was my cousin Ali who told me that pins could be traded throughout the parks, with cast members and Disney guests alike. It was like a secret society to me that I was dying to be a part of!
But I didn't quite start out on the right foot. I bought one of the most expensive pins I could find after saving up some money. The problem was I didn't want to trade it as I bought what would be considered a very good pin. I went home and looked up some helpful tips online. I purchased a much cheaper set of pins that I didn't really like. This was perfect, I wasn't attached to the pins and would easily trade them off. Over the years I have gotten more and more picky with the pins I am looking for. Right now I'm seeking a Simba pin and any from the new Star Wars collection. Me and my cousins all get together during summer and size up the pins that we all have making deals with one another and trading with cast members. I think the most fun is seeing my younger cousins finally getting the pins they've been after for so long and getting to share that experience with them.
I'm quite proud of my current collection and can't wait to trade for even better ones!
